Description :
Ampicillin is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum penicillin with bactericidal action against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The range of effect includes Campylobacter, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, E. coli, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus.
The bacterial action is due to inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
The bactericidal action is due to inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
Ampicillin is mainly excreted in urine. A major part can also be excreted in bile.
Indications :
Metritis, Mastitis, gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tract infections caused by micro-organism susceptible to Ampicllin in camels, horses, cattle, sheep and goats .
Contraindications :
Hypersensitivity to penicillins
Animals with renal or liver failure .
Side effects :
Hypersensitivity reactions.
Interaction :
Avoid administration with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides and lincosamides.
Usage :
For intramuscular or subcutaneous injection .
Shake well before use .
Dosage :
General dose : 1 ml per 20 kg body weight for 2-5 days
Dose can be exceeded in cases of severe infections without fear of toxicity.
Withdrawal period :
Meat : 8 days Milk : 3 days .
Storage conditions :
Store in airtight containers, in a moderate temperature (15-25 C) and protect from direct sunlight
